Henley Halebrown win The International Architecture Award 2023

Henley Halebrown have been awarded The International Architecture Award 2023 for Hackney New Primary School & 333 Kingsland Road by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, together with The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Henley Halebrown is directed by Simon Henley, Register member, and studio tutor in Kingston School of Art’s M.Arch.

Since 2004, The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, together with The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and Metropolitan Arts Press, Ltd. have organised The International Architecture Awards as a way in which to honour the best, significant new buildings, landscape architecture, and planning projects designed and/or built around the world’s leading architects, landscape architects, and urban planners practicing nationally and internationally.

Shortlisted for the Stirling Prize in 2022, the project combines a 350-pupil primary school with an apartment building. The relatively compact footprint of the residential tower frees up much of the site for the School and protects it from the noise and fumes from one of London’s busy arterial roads.
