New Architects 4 - Kingston Tutors at the Forefront of Practice

The Architecture Foundation has released the fourth edition of New Architects. This seminal series of books captures and celebrates the work of emerging practices in London, and its various iterations have identified the work of leading practitioners for the last 2 decades. In this new edition tutors from our UG and Masters courses in architecture are strongly represented - reflecting our position as a school which values empathetic practitioner academics as a vital part of the students learning experience. Architecture is a discipline ill served by easy binaries between ‘academia’ and ‘practice’. We value all ways of looking at the subject and the specialisms and space required for each. Scholarship, research and practice are essentially intertwined. This hybridity and fluidity is illustrated by our ethos of bringing a library book to the workshop and a sketch book to the library.

The tutors and architects whose work is celebrated in this way can balance designing thoughtful and beautiful buildings while sharing their knowledge with their students - a skill which can be tiring but which is so important - our congratulations to you all. You are a vital part of how we seek to enable our students and we look forward to seeing what lies ahead for you all.
